  • A plant-based diet focuses on whole, minimally processed foods that come from plants. This includes fruits, vegetables, legumes, whole grains, nuts, seeds, plant oils, herbs, and spices.

    What isn’t considered plant-based?

Plant-based diets avoid animal products like meat, fish, dairy, and eggs. They also steer clear of heavily refined ingredients like white sugar (often processed with bone char), artificial additives, and preservatives that aren’t plant-derived.

    What about honey?

Honey isn’t considered plant-based or vegan, since it’s produced by bees. But like many things, this comes down to personal values and choices. At Metanoia, we believe in flexibility and awareness. If honey works for you and you’re mindful about where it comes from and how often it’s used, that’s totally okay. We’re all doing our best — and as long as we stay conscious of our consumption and avoid excess, there’s room for grace and intention in the way we eat.

  • Yeswith the exception of raw honey, all our ingredients are plant-based. While honey is technically an animal by-product and not considered vegan by everyone, it’s one exception we make, and we use it consciously in small amounts.

    Why raw honey?
We choose raw honey because it’s minimally processed, retaining more of its natural enzymes, antioxidants, and other beneficial properties. Unlike pasteurized honey, which undergoes heat treatment to prolong shelf life, raw honey maintains its pure form as it comes from the hive. Since honey in its natural state has a long shelf life, we prefer it in its raw form for its authenticity and the extra health benefits it may offer.

We understand that not everyone aligns with consuming honey, and that's why we’re clear about this exception. Ultimately, our focus is on offering flexibility and transparency, allowing everyone to make informed choices based on their personal beliefs.

  • Yes! We focus on using whole, natural ingredients to sweeten our treats. We rely on the natural sweetness of fruits such as bananas, homemade applesauce made from fresh apples, and dates. We also use date sugar, which is made by drying and grinding whole dates into a powder, preserving the fruit's natural nutrients. Date syrup is occasionally used and is made by extracting the liquid from dates, then reducing it into a syrup. Due to its more concentrated sweetness, we use it a bit less than date sugar. Additionally, some treats contain vegan dark chocolate chips, which may have a small amount of coconut sugar. We also use raw honey (as noted in FAQ #1).

By using fruits and minimally processed sweeteners, we aim to keep our treats as close to nature as possible while still offering a deliciously satisfying sweetness.

  • The sugar you see comes from whole ingredients like fruits or nut butters. Because they’re unrefined and full of fiber, they have a much lower glycemic impact than traditional sweets. For example, while a cookie might contain 9% sugar, this is not the same as the sugar found in refined sweets. Refined sugar (like white sugar) provides no nutritional value and causes a quick spike in blood sugar. On the other hand, the sugar from fruits and nut butters is accompanied by fiber, vitamins, and minerals, which slow down the absorption of sugar, leading to a more steady and balanced energy release rather than an immediate blood sugar spike.

  • Yes, all of our treats are gluten-free. We use naturally gluten-free ingredients like almond flour, coconut flour, and certified gluten-free oat flour.

  • Because we don’t use preservatives, most of our treats are best kept in the fridge. Moofins and Chookies can stay at room temperature for 2–3 days in an airtight container, but for maximum freshness, we recommend refrigerating them—they’ll stay good for up to a week. Rawnies are freezer-friendly and can be enjoyed after a quick 15-minute thaw.

You can freeze your chookies in an airtight container separating each with parchment paper. Let thaw at room temperature then put in oven at 300F for 3-5 min to crisp up.

  • Yes! Our Chookies are made with plant-based ingredients like almond butter and date sugar, which naturally keep them soft and tender — especially since we bake them fresh the day before you receive them.

If you’d like a bit more crunch, just pop your Chookie in a preheated oven at 300°F (150°C) for 3–5 minutes, do not forget to put a timer! Let it cool slightly before enjoying.

We do not recommend using a microwave — it tends to make the Chookie chewy instead of crispy.

  • Currently, we offer pickup. We’re working on expanding soon—stay tuned!

  • Yes! We're currently developing an easy-to-use order form that will streamline the process and show real-time availability. If a treat is sold out for the day, you'll know right away. Pre-ordering is a great way to reserve your favorites—especially since some items are made in small batches and tend to go fast!

  • We’re committed to reducing waste. All our packaging is plant-based compostable (break down into soil that is safe for growing new plants), and recyclable wherever possible. It’s a small step that makes a big impact.

  • Metanoia means transformation—of mind, body, and spirit. For us, it's about rethinking how we nourish ourselves and reconnecting with food that supports healing and joy.

  • Because our treats are made fresh to order in small batches, we do not offer refunds at this time.

Each item is crafted with care, using high-quality, whole-food ingredients and a zero-waste mindset. That means we only make what’s needed, based on your pre-orders — not mass-produced stock. This approach keeps our kitchen efficient, reduces waste, and ensures you receive the freshest possible product.

If something didn’t meet your expectations, please reach out — we’re always open to feedback and want to make sure every experience with Metanoia feels intentional, kind, and considered.
